Facts about Gray Wolves
• The gray wolf is also called a timber wolf.
•Wolves communicate by scent-marking, vocalizing (including howling), facial expressions and body postures.
•The gray wolf usually does not have a shelter. In the winter it curls up in the snow. The wolf covers its paws and nose with its tail.
• Wolf cubs are born in an underground den. Usually 4 -7 in a litter. The female digs a den but she may borrow a burrow made by a badger or a woodchuck.
• Man is the only enemy of a wolf. The wolf will not attack a man unless it is sick or very hungry.
