• An additional 25,000 parrots die of suffocation, starvation, inhumane treatment while being transported to the Texas border.
• The Wild Bird Conservation Act passed by Congress in 1992 virtually eliminates trade in parrots from South America. Mexico has outlawed the exportation of it's parrots.
• Neotropical parrots have become one of the most threatened groups of birds in the world, primarily because of international trade and habitat destruction.
