Designer's Tip: This is not a pendant for guys. The large size is very big. Younger girls or ladies who like petite jewelry should order the small size. Make sure to use your ruler to determine if the size is right for you as these are 'made to order' just for you. A really unique way to dress up this pendant is to wear it on my black velvet neck cord or a matching dark blue rubber rope cord.

03 Blue Butterfly Pendant Necklace

A swallowtail blue butterfly has wings spread on a white mountain jade gemstone in this digitized photo jewelry pendant. The butterfly image has the same transparency you would see on living butterflies in the sunlight allowing an occasional twinkle from the gemstone beneath it. All gemstones are unique which means you will have a 'One of a kind' piece, made just for you after you order.

The artistic detailing in the looped frame is modern but also appeals to traditional tastes. The frame is cast brass with silver or gold plated antiqued finish. Shown on the left in silver. To see gold version run your mouse cursor over the image. The pendant comes in two sizes.
- The large is a 30mm X 40mm cabochon and measures 2 1/2" from bottom tip to top (excluding bail) and is 1 3/4 " wide.
- The small pendant measures 1 3/4" from bottom tip to top (excluding bail) and is 1 1/8" wide with a stone that is 18mm x 25mm. Included are bail and cable necklace chain with lobster claw fastener. Choose chain length of either 18" or 24".

Facts about Swallowtail Butterflies

Nature offers disguises to many of it's members. The Swallowtail butterfly is an example of this. It has two "tails" near their rear, a feature seen by bird predators as "antennae." In addition, in some species, the brilliant red spots in iridescent blue are mistaken as "eye spots." In other words, it looks like the hind end of the butterfly is the head end. Often birds go after this "tail end",and the butterfly flies away with the bird holding a "tail" in its beak. The butterfly may have lost the back part of its wing, but it is still alive! When you are watching swallowtail butterflies, notice that some swallowtails have missing tails!
