A photo of happy Dolphins jumping for joy in the blue sea is featured on this cameostone with an ivory-opal glaze that glows up through the semi-transparent dolphin picture, creating an almost holographic effect. Colors seem to turn metallic and the ivory background appears much like opal when tilted in refracted light.

Pendant is encircled with periwinkle seed beads and nickel plated ball chain, in a water drop shape, atop antique silver colored filigree. Fashion jewelry echoes the look and feel of dolphin in the sea, using Czech blue crystals and glass pearls in silver and white, with silver colored accents, dangle below featuring a large silver pearl droplet in the center. Facts about Dolphins

• There are 32 species of oceanic dolphins (Delphinidae family) and 6 porpoise species (Phocoenidae family) and 5 river dolphin species found in 5 different rivers. The river dolphins are the only dolphins that are endangered or vulnerable right now.

• Most dolphin species are about 6 ft in length, the males averaging 4 to 8 in longer than females. One of the largest dolphins is the bottle-nose dolphin which can reach over 9ft in length and weigh 440 lbs.

• Dolphins feed on live food and are predators, except when trained otherwise in captivity. Food consumption is estimated at about 66 lb a day for an individual about 8.2 ft in length and 220 lb in weight. Dolphins can taste, but have no sense of smell.
