01 Dolphin with Crystal Pendant Brooch

A photo of happy Dolphins jumping for joy in the blue sea is featured on a large white mountain jade cabochon, framed with an intricate lightweight silver filigree.

Atop a delicate filigree frame is a single row of bead chain encircling the cabochon. A Bali bead flower with bead center sits between two metal leaves. Your brooch is made just for you when you order. This is a very large pin and it is sometimes helpful to refer to a ruler to clarify size preference. Earrings are available to complement the piece.

Measures aprx. 1 3/4" in diameter. Matching earrings available for an unusual dolphin gift theme set for the dolphin gift lover. A 1 1/4" long, silver-plated pin back makes attachment easy.

Filigree frame is silver plated, stamped brass. The lightweight stamped frame counterbalances the heavier stone. The pen measures almost 2 inches across. The picture area is 38mm. Stainless pin back (1 1/4") is placed horizontal to makes attachment easy.

Facts about Dolphins

• There are 32 species of oceanic dolphins (Delphinidae family) and 6 porpoise species (Phocoenidae family) and 5 river dolphin species found in 5 different rivers. The river dolphins are the only dolphins that are endangered or vulnerable right now.

• Most dolphin species are about 6 ft in length, the males averaging 4 to 8 in longer than females. One of the largest dolphins is the bottle-nose dolphin which can reach over 9ft in length and weigh 440 lbs.

• Dolphins feed on live food and are predators, except when trained otherwise in captivity. Food consumption is estimated at about 66 lb a day for an individual about 8.2 ft in length and 220 lb in weight. Dolphins can taste, but have no sense of smell.
