A photo of Dolphins leaping from the sea is featured on a snow quartz gemstone. The best way to describe snow quartz would be to picture chucks of frozen ice with swirls ranging from opaque to translucent. Like all cut gemstones no two are exactly the same. The photos are semi-translucent and almost have a stained glass effect on these polished pieces of icy quartz.

These snow quartz gems are big stones. Both rectangular and oval measure 1 1/8 x 1 1/2 inches. Use your ruler to determine if this is the stone size for you. These are not recommended for young kids.

You are able to customize these pendants for your own specifications. You chose the blue dolphins with silver plated trim or golden dolphins with gold plated trim. They come on standard rubber necklace rope, very popular on it's own, but you can add tube beads (as seen bottom right) to dress it up. Facts about Dolphins

• The normal "cruising speed" of a dolphin is about 23 to 25 mph and they can jump 16 ft high or more. The dolphin is capable of diving for up to 20 minutes at 300 meters.

• Mating normally occurs during the spring months. The male and female court prior to mating. A female dolphin is pregnant for 11-12 months. The calf is delivered tail first, and is capable of swimming and breathing within the first minutes. The calf may nurse for as long as 12 to 18 months after birth.

• Dolphins are extremely and almost constantly vocal. They are capable of two kinds of sounds. Clicks are used as a form of sonar, in which echoes of sounds from surrounding objects enable the animals to detect it. Dolphins use whistles to communicate a particular emotional state to influence the behavior of other dolphins.
