The African lion and lioness picture cameostones on this custom photo jewelry are treated with a mother-of-pearl / opal glaze that shines up through the translucent image. An almost holographic or metallic affect is created in the light.
The button cabochons are in rich antiqued gold rope frames topped with copper beads. Stone is 13mm x 20mm. Photo will be aprx. 1/2" around. Order as a set with two photos or one photo only that is flipped to make a right and left. Beneath is intricate gold metal filigree echoing the tiny copper bead accents. Measures aprx. 1” X 1 1/2” (excluding fishhook). Available in three styles: fishhook (shown right), pierced post or clip-on (shown left). Facts about Lions |
• Female lions reach two thirds of their adult size by the time they are 2 years old. Males begin to really grow at 3 years and by 4 will be almost their adult size and weight. Both males and females continue to grow until they are 6 years old, primarily becoming more massive. •African Lion males measure from 5-8 feet in length with the tail adding up to an extra 3 feet. They stand approximately 4 feet tall at the shoulder, weighing between 330 -550 pounds. • Female African lions are 4-6 feet in length, with a equally long tail. Females are shorter than males, 3.5 feet tall at the shoulder. Females weigh between 264 - 400 pounds. • The largest lion on record was almost 11' long and weighed nearly 700 lbs. |
