Silver framed cameostones are treated with an ivory/ opal glaze background that shines up through the penguin lovers images. An almost holographic or metallic affect is created in the light. A delicate laser cut charm in shiny plated silver topped with a silver framed heart in arctic blue, dangles below. Tiny silver hearts and feathers swing from the drop. Cabochon silver rope frames measure 3/4" wide X 1" high. Stone is 13mm x 20mm. Photo will be aprx. 1/2" around. Total length of earring is 2 1/4". These are lightweight, swingy and fun to wear. Interesting facts about penguins |
| • Penguins breed in colonies called 'rookeries', some with 180,000 or more birds. • They lay 2 eggs at a time. Mom and dad take turns incubating them and later feeding the chicks. • Even if two eggs are hatched, often only one chick will survive. Once the chicks are 2 to 3 weeks old, they will gather together in groups called a creche. The chicks will stay together in groups for warmth and safety while the parents go to the open sea to hunt for food. When the parents return they will call to their chicks. The chicks recognize its parents' sound and will go to them. • Many species of penguin do form long-term relationships, but some species choose a new mate every year. Blue penguins are among those who form long-term relationships and their divorce rate is around 6% per year. |
