This painting of Mary praying was made by one of the old masters and digitized onto the cameostone which has a glowing effect from the mother-of-pearl glaze beneath, showing through the picture. An antiqued silver scrolled necklace pendant setting appeals to all tastes. Pendant holds a 30mm X 40mm cabochon and measures 2 1/4" from bottom tip to top (excluding bail) and is 1 1/2" wide. Gentle woman, quiet light In Mary's time the penalty for an unwed mother was death by stoning. At the time of the angel's visit with the news of the honor being bestowed on Mary, she was only 14 or 15 years old and was promised in marriage to Joseph. She must have had tremendous faith, not only that her life would be spared, but that Joseph would still accept her. How awesome to think that the Savior of the world was entrusted to a couple of teenage kids! As Jesus grew I wonder if Mary really understood how the end would come to His earthly life and what suffering she would have to endure as she watched her son die the death of a common thief. Mary is honored with this pendant for her faith, strength, courage and wisdom. |
