• The tiger lives in a lair and this is where the female brings her cubs into the world. Cubs weigh under 3 lbs. at birth and are striped. Litters consists of 1 to 4 cubs, but sadly only two or three usually survive. At about 8 weeks old they begin to join their mother on the hunt. At 6 months, they have learned how to kill and can feed themselves when they are 16 months old but depend on their mother for food and protection for another two years.

• Bengal Tigers have white spots behind their ears that look like eyes. These white ear spots may enable mothers and cubs to keep track of each other in the dim forests at night.

• Stiff whiskers enable a tiger to move through thick cover at night. If the whiskers fit, the whole body can follow. The same is true for our feline pets. A cat also uses it's whiskers to gauge how well it will fit into an opening.
