White tiger pictures are featured on photo jewelry button cameostones. They have an ivory opal glaze that shines up through the translucent white tiger pictures. An almost holographic or metallic affect is seen when the ivory colored stone catches the light. The button cabochons are framed in an antiqued silver rope design. Stone is 13mm x 20mm. White tiger pictures will be aprx. 1/2" around and are flipped to make a right and left. Available as fishhook, pierced or clip-on. Interesting White tiger facts |
• The white tiger is not a species of tiger or an albino. A genetic defect causes the tiger to be white and they are a mutant form of the orange Bengal tiger. In the wild a white tiger is quite rare but many zoos have adopted a cross breeding method to assure reproduction of white tigers. Due to this inbreeding many white tigers are born with defects or die as cubs. There are animal activists organizations who are against the cross breeding of these tigers. • Bengal Tigers are from India and are an endangered species. Intensive work on the part of various groups and the Indian Government to protect them has seen a rise in the population, now having reached about 3,500, up from 1,200 in the 1970s. • The Bengal tiger was declared India's national emblem prior to 2500 B.C. |
